COMFORT CURE

Charlotte Drayton

24 November – 9 December 2016

An ordinary corridor can lead away from serenity, can swiftly funnel bodies into a space which is too close, a space without enough air to sustain tranquility. Teasing out the subtleties within the narrative of aspirational architecture she has carefully composed across her practice, here Drayton confronts those most deeply affective moments when our built environments act against us, when bodies react in unplanned ways and the story takes an unexpected turn. Through a series of thoughtful yet brazen architectural gestures the closeness of the gallery vault is exacerbated and the space is reimagined in another, softer, light.
